Hi, Jonathan Gogal (He/His/Him) here! I founded Blue Haven Counseling, LLC with the goal of creating a space that is both supportive and growth-oriented. I believe therapy should be a place where clients feel safe to explore their experiences while also being challenged in ways that promote meaningful, lasting change. My vision is to build an environment where both clients and therapists feel supported, allowing for high-quality, intentional care.

I earned my undergraduate degree from Berry College, where I studied Psychology and Family Studies. During my time there, I was also a member of the Cross Country and Track teams, an experience that shaped my appreciation for discipline, resilience, and personal growth. I went on to complete my Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Middle Tennessee State University. While at MTSU, I served as a graduate assistant, contributing to research, teaching, and curriculum development.

As a licensed therapist, couples counselor, and former program director, I have spent years guiding individuals through diverse clinical settings, including outpatient programs, detox facilities, and addiction treatment centers. My practice spans all stages of life, from adolescents and young adults to older adults and veterans. Because of this, I take a developmentally informed approach, honoring the unique strengths and challenges that accompany each phase of life.

While I support clients facing a wide range of mental health concerns— including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, BPD, substance use, and neurodivergent experiences (ASD, ADHD, OCD)—I specialize deeply in treating trauma, grief, and self-esteem challenges. My therapeutic approach is integrative and custom-tailored to you, drawing from evidence-based modalities like CBT, Person-Centered Therapy, EMDR, and Trauma-Focused care.

To recharge, I love being active, biking, pickleball, and heading outdoors are my go-to’s. I'm also usually found wrenching on my 1986 Toyota 4Runner, watching anime, or stressing over a FromSoftware video game. I look forward to potentially collaborating with you on your healing journey. Before you go, make sure to browse our other team bios, we have a genuinely stellar group here!

Hello! I’m Nate (He/Him/His). I received my undergraduate degree in psychology and neuroscience from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. After graduation I worked for two years at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital at their inpatient/residential psychiatric campus. During this time I worked with children (3-10), adolescents (10-13), and teenagers (13-18) struggling with a variety of different mental health disorders and issues. I left the hospital when I got into my master’s program at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. I graduated with my master’s in clinical mental health counseling in August of 2025. I have experience working with individuals of all ages suffering from a variety of mental health issues including anxiety, PTSD, depression, substance use and addiction, as well as neurodiverse individuals struggling with ASD, ADD, ADHD, and OCD.

I employ a person-centered therapeutic orientation with themes of existentialism and cognitive behavioral therapy. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community I understand how important vulnerability and authenticity are and just how hard it can be living in a world that readily punishes them. One of my favorite parts of being a clinician is helping people discover their worth, extraordinary, and uniqueness when they are not able to find it themselves. As such, my clients can expect our therapeutic sessions to be a completely safe, secure, empathetic, and non-judgemental space for you to explore and process your emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and trauma.

I am a clinician but I am also a person! Here are some of the things that make me myself: My first, I was born overseas, so I grew up with a deep appreciation for different people and cultures around the world. I’ve been to over eleven countries on four continents. In addition to travel and culture, living overseas also contributed to a love of anime, manga, manhwa, and donghua (Japanese, Korean, and Chinese comics/graphic novels). Some of my favorites include Naruto, FullMetal Alchemist, Hunter x Hunter, Pokemon, Yu-gi-oh, Gatchiakuta, Jujitsu Kaisen, and more! I am an avid video game player and enjoy everything from FPS like Halo, to high fantasy RPG’s like Baldur’s Gate III, to catch ‘ems like Pokemon. I am a huge movie fan! Science fiction, fantasy, and horror are my favorite genres. I am a huge animal lover and my husband and I have four pets: a dog, snake, gecko, and scorpion. I love to be outdoors and enjoy reading on my porch, hiking, and taking my dog for walks. I can't wait for you to get to know me more and vice versa and I look forward to collaborating to create a solid therapeutic relationship to help you live the life you want to!
